Review of New York, New York

Living in NY
Star Rating - 12/1/2012
I grew up in Queens, NY. I hung out in Queens, Brooklyn, Manhattan, and the Bronx. So i know a little bit about "the city that never sleeps." While NY has a lot to offer regarding diversity, some opportunities, and pretty transit system- it's also over-rated.

When I hear folks are looking to move here and emphasize that it's the city that never sleeps it makes me wonder if they've ever experienced life. But I realize it's a change from what they're used to. So I can't fault them. (Whatever floats your boat)

In my opinion, there's a lot to do BUT as far as the Quality of life is lacking-simply because the cost of living is way too high, the housing apartments need serious attention and streets of NY are beat down. The economy's not that great. If you're looking for a nice change in/near a Big City, be prepared to pay out the nose for a decent place nearby.

Ultimately, the culture of NY is diverse but be sure to weigh out your options. This is not the place to retire. I personally don't want to raise children here.

And for those of you complaining about being single and living in certain cities/states, you emphasized how women outnumber the men....hate to break it to you.... the "shortage" exists EVERYWHERE!!!! And that goes for Racism also.

To each his own. Know what your likes and dislikes and set Realistic Goals!
