the hudson valley - specifically the areas surrounding red hook, pine plains, millbrook, and ancramdale - are great places for CSAs, sustainable restaurants, alternative energies, strong college programs, and local living.
additionally, the new york state grants are among the most generous in the nation for CSA farming and alternative energy sources.
if you're eager to live off the land and willing to put in the work to build [or in some cases re-build] local agriculture - but still want to be surrounded by a vibrant music and arts scene, and within an easy commute to NYC, the hudson valley should be on your list!
