Review of Ontario, Oregon

Nice town but could be better
Star Rating - 4/17/2020
I’ve lived in the area for most of my life—so about 35 years. I would give it five stars except for Five things:
1. The racism against whites
2. All the pot shops and potheads.
3. The cops don’t give a s*** about druggies—they get away with everything
4. Poor community
5. Poor City management

Racism—If you’re hispanic, you get everything handed to you on a silver platter. Most jobs only hire bilinguals, which means the jobs are only available to hispanics. My kids get targeted with racial comments and the hispanics who are saying these things get away with it, yet if my kids say anything like they don’t like the color brown, they get called a racist.

Potheads—When the stimulus money was received, people were lined up at the pot shops, ready to spend their money that was meant for helping with bills and hardships caused by the coronavirus conspiracy. Ever since Ontario decided it was best for the community to allow dispensaries, everybody and their dog is coming from idaho and all over just to get their pot. Everywhere there’s potheads!

3. Cops—I’ve told the cops many times about my sister’s ex boyfriend having pot growing in his home, around his home, in his garage, selling it, exchanging it for s** favors, while having his 5-year-old son there. Cops do nothing.
4. Community—the majority of people here are poor, so if you’re trying to start a business or sell anything, nobody wants to pay more than a dollar for it, or they want you to give it to them.
5. City Management—the city of Ontario has money but likes to pocket it for themselves. Their salaries are more than Portland’s and there is nothing to show for it. They keep the park bathrooms closed, they don’t upkeep the parks, they don’t give anything back to the community. The community had to take the pool from them because they closed it down because it wasn’t being taken care of. The roads need fixed.

Now that I’ve ranted, here’s the good things about Ontario:
1. Everything is 5 minutes away. Need to run to Walmart? 5 minutes. Need to go to Joann’s fabric? 5 minutes. I love it. Traffic isn’t too bad.
2. Most people are very friendly.
3. Just the right size— not too big and crowded but not so small that you have to drive to another town to get something.
4. Close to boise. About an hour from boise, which makes it convenient if you need to catch a flight or do some major shopping.
5. Not too much crime. Most crime is drug-related in that people get into figh
