Review of Bedford Indi,

Environmental Health Concerns
Star Rating - 3/28/2009
Bedford is a small, close knit, mostly religious community.

Pro's: Everyone is very friendly; crime is very low - you don't need to lock your doors at night; lush, green rolling hills; cost of living is very low - nice 3br 2 ba homes under $100,000. Small local bus picks you up at your door.

Con's: This community feels stagnant and limited with its lack of diversity. General Motors is the major employer and is facing bankruptcy; 44" of rain a year makes for dreary skies and soggy clay soil; the rolling hills keep the pollen in the area (for those with allergies it is pretty bad here); General Motors used PCB's at one time and the flood plains and groundwater are polluted. Although the topsoil is being cleaned up, the PCB's are imbedded in the bedrock (limestone capital of the world)and will continue to seep into the underground streams and waterways for years. Don't eat the fish!
