About Ellwood City, PA
Star Rating - 7/8/2010
Ellwood City, PA is a nice smaller city in western PA. The ZIP code for Ellwood's population (16117) is around 16,000 in 2010. This community use to be a steel production powerhouse from the late 1800's through the collapse in the 1970's. Ellwood reached its highest popluation in the 1940's at around 42,000 residents. The culture in Ellwood is vast, but the two major nationalities are German and Italian.

Major cities around Ellwood include Pittsburgh which is only a 40-45 minute drive taking I-76, I-79, and I-279. Another big city is Youngstown OH, which is only 35-40 Minutes from town.

Today it lacks job opportunities and entertainment. There is a country club, and a few other golf courses, along with a new night club in the uptown near west end called Jergels. Every July 4th weekend, Ellwood holds a major festival in it's Ewing Park area featuring hundreds of vendors, attractions, music/bands, entertanment and great food attracting people from across the state.

The climate is typical to western PA. Cold, hard, snowy winters and warm to hot summers. Average rainfall is 37.28"/Yearly. Fall time makes a very colorful and scenic drive with the rolling foothills and winding roads.

Beautiful community friendly neighborhood and soon you know everyone by name. There is now a brewery that host bands and the park does have a pool. Several places host community gardens. Friendly town and safe too.
