Enid is a good town. Cheap cost of living, locals are nice, more stores are opening and there are plenty of jobs available. Great place to raise a family. If you make 60k a year you can make a pretty comfortable living here with the houses being so cheap. Only gripe I have is the water bills, but it's not nearly as bad as other cities I've lived in that made me pay a minimum of $100 no matter what (here it's about $90 for a family of four if you aren't skimping on water).

West side of town is the best side, all the newer homes built in the 80s-90s are there and most businesses are located on this side of town. East side of town has good areas, unfortunately there are some areas where the homes are more run-down and unappealing, what they consider a "run down" place here is nothing compared to most major city ghettos. There is drug use, but honestly what town doesn't have it, this place is not "drug ridden" as people like to call it, in fact there is a strong religious presence here, with a dozen churches located in a 5 mile square radius, which means you have a lot of friendly people here who have more times than one went out of their way to help their fellow neighbor out.

Weather here is the only downside, it's hot and humid in the summer, and cold/windy in the winter. Not too much snow, more ice than anything and most of it melts off by noon. Spring/Fall are the most pleasant seasons. Get ready for thunderstorms though, as that pretty much comes with the mid-west package, lots of random thunderstorms and sometimes those come along with tornado watch alerts. Good to buy a house with a tornado shelter that's below ground, otherwise there are two shelters that you can go to, not designated "public" but they are available (one is in the abandoned Mall and the other is in a Church on Broadway Street).

If you can find a good paying job around here, I would consider moving here. Oklahoma City is only an hour and a half drive away, Stillwater is an hour drive away and they have OSU Football games. Businesses are opening, the town is growing slowly, and Vance Air Force Bases presence pretty much solidifies this town's success. As long as they're here, Enid will continue to grow.

I was in Enid because of a person not because of the town, but I do think this is a balanced POV. That said, Enid is a small town and has the same issues as every other small town and big town for that matter for the simple reason that people live there. It's all a matter of scale. As for the negatives, I've lived all over and every place has negatives - and positives. How they are seen usually all depends on what that person specifically values. Changing the things you do not like is always an option. For example, Enid could use more places for kids to practice and play sports that is neutral - no adult politics that hurt kids, fewer organizational politics etc. and there were/are parties working to make that happen. If you don't like something (other than the weather) there is usually a way to effect change or at least make the effort. Or you can just complain - or move to somewhere you think is more aligned with what you personally prioritize or value.
