Just like anywhere else,there are good and bad areas in Plainfield. I would be careful on the West End, however the East end has beautiful homes that are in the millions and border some of the nicer towns in New Jersey. (Fanwood, No Edison) My In-Laws live in Plainfield and I have no fear of my daughter spending time there. The school systems could be better,however there are a number of private schools within 15 minutes if you wanted to go that route.
