Review of Greendale, Wisconsin

Pros/Cons: Nice community but High taxes, cold win
Star Rating - 4/27/2007
I grew up in Greendale, but now I plan on moving south (can not stand the cold and taxes anymore).

Greendale Pros: Small village atmosphere, quiet, no crime (except a few thefts at our mall), nice walking areas (parks and walk trails), little traffic (mostly no-thru streets), easy access to downtown Milwaukee.

Greendale Cons: Property Taxes are very high (OVER twice national mill rate average, see Sperlings Housing Data), winters are long, cloudy and cold for 5 to 6 months. Riff-raff is getting closer to Greendale (only 1-2 miles away now) and could overtake us in 8-15 years, maybe sooner, maybe never, our Mall is going downhill in last 5 years. House prices are slightly high.

If you do not mind the cold and the property taxes you probably will love the community.
