Review of Wayne, Illinois

Please Don't Move to Wayne
Star Rating - 3/23/2007
Surrounded on all sides by growth, the heavily forested, rural atmosphere of Wayne, Illinois eludes the destructive nature of uncontrolled expansion of her neighbors.

A strong sense of town pride and a lengthy list of old time Wayneites allows this town to retain an "old money", rural America atmosphere. Most towns offer far more amenities than our old town, but everyone is jealous of those who live here. The small town ambiance is a constant challenge to preserve and all of us constantly strive to preserve it.

Where else can one watch the bright red coats of the hunters and the herd of hounds as they dash through the backyard as the annual fox hunt arrives? Right now I have a raccoon in the back of my truck, waiting for his new home. He was captured this morning and I have located a forest preserve far from the house to let him go. All kinds of animals, birds and other wildlife are a constant reminder of the delights of our town.

But, please don't move here. We are crushed by a population explosion....
