I agree with the other posters about the job market and some businesses move out. But for the most part, the economy isn't all that bad. The taxes and other fees the city puts on businesses is the main reason most don't stay here. If this community would wake up and just look north.. at that vast lake we have right on our shore... Some kind of tourist attraction or hotels, something. Maybe we'd have a better economy and lower taxes. There are several factory and energy plants in the immediate area that help thru them paying taxes, but we need more to attract potential business and tourism. I've always thought a water park/ amusement industry could really benefit from this area. Or even tours of the historic sites around the county and city. Something has to be done, because this area is rich in untapped resources. Just think of the possibilites.
