Review of Bloomfield, New Jersey

Not bad, but not great either

I'm not originally from NJ, and chose Bloomfield after getting a job in Montclair but didn't want to pay Montclair prices for rent. Bloomfield is a cheaper alternative, and has everything that my wife and I need as far as services go. Public transit is an option for me using either buses or trains to Montclair, and they're convenient enough if you live near a bus stop or train station. And getting into NYC is easy via NJ Transit or a quick drive to a PATH station (we use Harrison). Bloomfield, to me, is like an even mix of the upper class vibe of Montclair and the low-income vibe of Newark. You kinda get both in Bloomfield. Overall, it's quiet, low crime, and affordable for us (rent is $1350 for 1 BD as of July 2018). We won't settle here, but it's okay for now.
