Review of Seattle, Washington

Expensive is an understatement
Star Rating - 8/20/2021
Hahaha! I can't believe Best Places lists the cost of living as it does. I consulted this site before moving there 18 months ago from Vancouver, WA. 7% more expensive on food? I think not! Try 20-30%. Gas is easily $0.80 cents more a gallon, and misc is 50-100% more expensive. The cost of even a standard haircut at Great Clips will run you $30+. Don't even get me started on how grumpy and ill-mannered people are here... probably because you have to make $60k a year to even scrape by. The weather and the proximity to the mountains and salt water were the only perks, in my opinion. It's been a miserable run and I cannot wait to leave. The break ins, crime, drugs, and violent homeless are enough to make anyone want to leave.

Welcome to Washington, we hope you enjoy your stay. Usually if you're not born here, it will break you down and make you contemplate your existence. People always wonder why we're always rioting. We're underpaid, overpriced housing and goods, social inequality, lack of sun and human interaction... Stuff gets weird, hence Nirvana, Pearl Jam, etc.

Any large metropolitan city will be more expensive due to more opportunities for employment and activities. If you owned a business in Seattle opposed to Vancouver, I’m sure you would charge more as well. Parts of WA seem to be in a time warp. $30 for a haircut?? God forbid! How in the world do you think a hairstylist can live on that.. Go to any large city and you will pay big bucks.. it’s a given. I’m glad that the distressing, ignorant, racist, rant that Don is melancholy for, is being voted and protested out. His way of thinking is simply hate filled nonsense.

100% Agree! And rated #1 on this site for retirement? Laughable. Maybe if you retired from Microsoft or Amazon...maybe. Or retired in a substandard Seattle nursing home, paid through Medicare. Liberal government has hobbled the law, taken the side of miscreants of all calibers, and clearly hate anyone not in their cult of liberal parasite voters. Middle class, law-abiding conservatives are an enemy of "The Emerald City", and are treated as such. Shameful what liberalism has done to a once clean, safe, entertaining and inviting city, run by moderately conservative government once upon a time. Now a steady decline into a bad part of Chicago.
