Review of Dyersburg, Tennessee

It is ok.......
Star Rating - 8/7/2012
I have lived in and around Dyersburg, Tn. for about 18 years. It has a small mall, walmart, lowes, and 25+ restaurants. The schools are decent and the county has well over a 100 churches. The jobs are horrible in 2012. Over 4 major factories in the area have left and more plan on leaving. The crime rate is not bad at all, frequent tornadoes, but no Joplin. About a 30 minute drive to major lakes for fishing. A few hunting reserves, a lot of farmland, but you have to know the right people to hunt. Some new businesses are coming in, but mainly restaurants. Any public service job is almost impossible without knowing an alderman or being related to the right people. Housing and rent is not too bad compared to the size of the population. Not a bad place at all to live, just a tough economy and the lack of entertainment in the area. Several good doctors with practices in the area. It's ok.....
