Review of Elwood, Indiana

I don't even know where to start. I lived in Elwood for around 11 years and do not recommend moving here. The town is VERY oppressed–drugs are a big issue, as well as crime. The south side of town is more crime-ridden than the north side, though that's not saying much. The police don't do their job, they just brush things under the rug instead. Not to mention the racism... the Ku Klux Klan is very much alive and well, even so much to the point of passing out fliers, WITH policemen helping them, to give people the opportunity to join them. The education system is horrible. I would recommend sending your kids to Tipton instead as their schooling system is much better. It's a good 50 minute-hour long drive to a town with a population of over 10,000, so that means it takes that long to get to a Walmart, Meijer, Lowe's, Home Depot, Mall, etc. or have anything to do. Also to mention the town has some of the hardest water in Madison County.
