Review of Belm,

North Wall NJ
Star Rating - 8/22/2006
It's a nice small town feel although it's part of an almost 40 sq mile town, we are nestled in Glendola, the northern-most section of Wall Township between rt's 18/138 and the Garden State Parkway we are very accessible to these major roadways so it's great for commuters. There is one major road through town which is Belmar Blvd- it can get very busy during rush hours. North Wall is made up of small neighborhoods of varying ages- some built in the 60's and 70's then there are some newer developments built in the late 90's-2000's. There is a large parcel of land which used to be an old army base (Camp Evans) which was de-commisioned in 1990's, right now the army is still remediating several things before it is fully given over to the town. We do have our little league fields on a portion of this property as well as a satellite campus of our nearby community college. We have a small strip mall located off Belmar Blvd with a Quick Check convenience store, Pizza place, Ice cream shop / bakery / gas station luncheonette and pharmacy.
The elementary school is Central School, the largest in Wall Township, it has a student population of 700+ and it is a bit crowded due to several developments that were added to the area in the past several years. Due to the crowding we do not have a dedicated art or music room because of the need for classroom space. That is a downside to this section of town./ The other downside from April to October is the racetrack, We are home to the Wall Speedway which has been around for some 50 years. Its a fixture in these parts with weekend racing (mostly Saturday nights) during those months. It can get a bit loud from 6 pm to 11 pm on Saturday nights during Summer months depending on which way the wind is blowing. We are also home to the nations largest privately owned airport - Monmouth Executive Airport- no large cargo planes can go in or out, mostly just small private craft and Banner planes that fly by the beaches use it. There is a sky diving school there.
We are about 3-4 miles from the beaches of Belmar/Springlake/Avon. Very close to plenty of shopping - grocery stores/clothing/restaurants/gas stations/ all within a 5-10 min drive on rte 35. Its a great area w/ nice people. The only problem is it's located within the wonderful ,corrupt state of NJ - with all it's tax warts/insurance cost woes - but hey, where else can you live 5 minutes from the beach , an hour from New York City, an hour
