Review of Johnston, Iowa

Strong National Guard presence and very family-friendly. The library is the best one that I've ever visited. We moved here for the Army two years ago and will be leaving next year. During that time I have genuinely grown to love this area of Iowa. If you are lucky enough to work at DuPont, Pioneer, Corteva or John Deere (even Wells Fargo!) then you will appreciate the culture, cost of living, and absolutely fantastic school system. The public school system here is on par with or better than a private school. This town is about 20 minutes away from West Des Moines and features less traffic, a closer community, and many more events to attend with children. There are condos with pools, and the streets are well taken care of in the winter and throughout the year. The mayor is quick to respond to any community needs, and she jogs every morning, as many people do here. It is a fit and active community filled with very diverse, safe, and friendly people. If you are looking to move here for your job, you will be treated well and there are many different places to eat as well as a variety of grocery stores nearby. 10/10.
