It's difficult to understand how property taxes can be more than doubled from 2008 to 2009 in view of the following facts given in your report for Washington township in Darke Co. OH.:
1. Home appreciation is -5.20 %
2. Cost of living is 23.50% lower than the US average.
3. The unemployment rate is 11.80% compared to US average of 8,50%
The tax increase was done by arbitarily increasing the evaluation of properties so as to more than double taxes. It seems almost criminal to deliberately increase taxes when the economy is so stressed.
