Review of Mineral, Virginia

Mineral and Virginia;s second largest lake
Star Rating - 1/4/2010
Having spent the part quarter century visiting, camping, boating and living in the Mineral, VA area, I want to introduce the viewer to Lake Anna, a 13,000 acre, 17 mile long lake with a 250 mile shoreline, most of which is available for and hospitable to individuals and families looking for a chance to get away from the hustle of the urban areas. Lake Anna, built in the early 70s for the North Anna nuclear power station, boasts a state park, great fishing and boating in a clean, well managed setting. While hotel rooms are a bit sparse, inventory is growing and rental homes provide a wide range of living arrangements and price levels near and directly on the lake. The lake and nearby Louisa offer a modest range of restaraunts along with the basics in shopping and services. While Mineral proper has only a few hundred residents, the close surrounding area has several times that and is growing as the Richmond, Fredericksburg and Charlottesville urban areas grow toward the lake area. My kids grew up visiting Lake Anna and we have many wonderful times at and around the lake.
