The City of Chickamauga: Beautifully perserved his
Star Rating - 11/29/2008
Chickamauga, GA is rich in history. The Battle of Chickamauga/Chattanooga was fought here in September 1863. The brave soldiers of the South fighting against the Federal armies of the North to ensure that our way of life would not change. The Confederate army won this particular battle but lost the war. The downtown area boasts of the Pride of the Confederacy with many buildings filled with replications of how folks dressed during the mid-19th century. An excellent place to visit and take the family.

Umm hello, I think the soldiers of the North were brave too. Frankly, the town sounds scary with its perpetual worship of the antebellum (ahem, pro-slavery) and white supremacist culture of the South. A 98% white population and streets named after Confederate generals with little plaques eulogizing each one, umm, yeah, okay...got it.

I used to live in Chickamauga. It is a great place to visit. Lots and lots of Civil War history.Confederate flags flying everywhere and it's people are very proud of who they are and what their town stands for! It's in the foothills and very pretty. Lots of country views. There really isn't a lot to do there and I honestly didn't like actually living there. But it is a wonderful place to visit if you get the chance.
