Review of Chickasha, Oklahoma

not much in the 'quality' aspect

If you want to live in a place where the health department will advise you NOT to drink the tap water... This is where you want to be. If you want to always be within 5 blocks of a church... This is where you want to be. If you want to live where you can only use the local hospital for MINOR issues, otherwise you have to go an hour to a skilled medical facility... This is where you want to be. If you want to live where the only places open after 6 p.m. are corporate chains... This is where you want to live.

In short, this town has all of the downsides of a small town, and none of the perks... High crime, poor health, atrocious education standards, and to boot, if you don't have the money for bottled water, prepare to be thirsty.

So, here are some of the things to remember when you are looking at the numbers listed on this site... In a matter of a couple days, there were 3 murders (did I mention this is a small town?). Don't leave anything unlocked. If you have a large dog, its good and bad... They are likely to keep the thieves away, but also a major target for the hoodlums that will be interested in killing him. For over a month, we had issues with animals getting mutilated and left for the owners to find. Most of the victims were pits, rotts, and shepherds. They didn't stop there, though... Even chihuahuas were not safe as one elderly person found out.

Also, if you think you hit a goldmine when you see the housing value here, think again... It may be a 40-something, but finding something that wouldn't be more fitting in the slums of some 3rd world country at an affordable rate is virtually impossible. If you want to slave away at 7.25 an hour, then come home to a one bedroom house that is 600 a month, with an electric bill that is pushing 200 because the thing leaks air faster than you can cool or heat it... by all means, join the trap. Otherwise, RUN!
