Review of Islamorada, Florida

High Cost City
Star Rating - 2/23/2008
Islamorada is a unique and beautiful 4-island community in the Florida Keys. It has great boating and fishing opportunities and some great local restaurants. It has a tourist-based economy and population triples during the peak tourist season (Jan. - Apr.). However, the cost of living is high. The average housing price is nearly $1,000,000 and waterfront properties can be much higher. Further, food and utility costs are generally higher than on the mainland. Access to discount stores and mainstream retail establishments is not convenient. Living here requires a certain mindset.
