Review of Silver Spri,

Neighborhood housing in Takoma Park/Silver Spring
Star Rating - 5/7/2007
There is very little new housing in my neighborhood. Only a very few infill single family homes. Most of the housing was developed either around 1920 or immediately post World War II. The early 20th century housing consists mostly of Arts and Crafts bungalows, with a few 4-squares thrown in. The post WWII housing is mostly brick bungalows, cape cods, and colonials. The housing from both eras vary in size and amenities, but few were built for the luxury market of their day. The buyer range when built was from working class/starter homes to solid middle class family homes. Today, even the most basic of the homes resells for over $300,000.00, with a substantial number (depending on location within the neighborhood) selling in the $1 million + range.
