Review of Lombard, Illinois

A village with a heart
Star Rating - 9/26/2023
I lived in Lombard for 19 years before moving out of state in 2020. My primary issue with Illinois, not Lombard per so, is the real estate tax rate. I retired and paying $6000 a year in RE taxes on a (then priced) home of approx $250K was high for me.

Lombard was convenient for me in that the village has several main highway systems that take you to points east/west or north/south. Highways include I355, I294, I88. Major roads include RT53, RT 83, RT38, RT64. This network of roads and highways allowed me to travel in any direction since my job as a consultant took me in all directions. There is also a network of commuter rails that allow one to get to different towns and even into the city - Chicago. Also, Lombard is conveniently located within 30 minutes from O'Hare airport and about 45 minutes from Midway airport (not including rush hours).

Lombard is overall safe, and is bordered by both less affluent towns like Addison and Glendale Heights and more affluent towns such as Oakbrook.

Amenities for shopping and eating are endless. So much to choose.
I found Lombard to be affordable and since there is a lot of competition for service work, I was always able to find contractors to work within my price ranges.

There are many forest preserves that dot Lombard and DuPage County.
