Review of Carlisle, Pennsylvania

Carlisle PA
Star Rating - 11/11/2007
I am originally from Northern California, so I am still getting used to the relatively high population density here in the East. However, Carlisle is a good place to raise children. What crime there is can be avoided by not being in certain parts of the town after dark. It is relatively close to the Washington DC area and to Philadelphia. The Harrisburg airport could be better, but good deals can be had. Schools are considered fairly good, and excellent shopping can be done within an hour's drive of the city. The town itself has numerous older homes with character, but housing prices are fairly high. All in all, it has been a good experience, but at some point I will probably head back West for the grand vistas (the local "mountains" are significantly lower than "mountains" in the West) and sense of openness.
