A Get away from the constant Back Up beep noise of

Good neighbors are worth keeping wherever you live. If you have them, I would stay put. That aside, the economy is dead here. Always has been. That's the point. Low paying city jobs have always paid even lower out here. It's difficult (but not totally impossible for some) for a teenager to get fair work, with so many adults willing to work for low pay, if they can get it.

Around most of Highland County the air is clean, and 75% of the time you will think you went deaf. (4 wheelers, trucks, dogs, grain mills, and gunshots fill the other 25%) There are military jets, like at Virginia Beach, in some areas. No trains (too bad)or highway hum noise. This area is a wildlife paradise, everything is here. It is awesome. Mandatory is comprehensive insurance on your car for all the big deer, dogs, loose cows and horses, fox, coyotes, etc.. it's all on the loose here.

Still, I can't wait to get out of here for weather and age reasons.
How mant times do I need to shoot a gun, walk the same trail, or build another bonfire? It's time to let a new family enjoy the experience.

It is interesting that some parts of this county have red soil and microclimate, complete with lizards, like Tennesse, or even Texas, while on the same land you have typical Ohio grey soil.

Spring and fall are too short, Winter is 5 months long. Been a good place to raise the kids and clear the soul. I would hate to end up in one of the boring nursing homes out here so I seek a better retirement.

For some reason, people here have to accept lower wages than the surrounding counties, so quality people move out unless they can run the family business or are to stubborn or lazy (like me) to realize they can double their pay moving an hour away. Many commute to Dayton or Cinci.(no thanks).

The schools turned out (for me)to be better than the scores reveal. Although you can forget your kids from joining the "family" for sports, no matter how good they are, most teachers don't seem to force their unions ideology like they do in the cities.
I'd give it a 8 out of 10 for small town Ohio.
