Long Beach WA is the highest rated place to live in WA, OR, CA, Idaho, Utah.
San Diego is having its annual burn out of wildfires. Residents of San Diego who don't work (retired) should sell and move to the Long Beach Peninsula. It doesn't rain enough here in May, June, July, August, September, October to keep plants moist. We have to sprinkle or use a drip system. The trees are bright green here, not brown green as portrayed by CA artists. There are stores 33 miles away: Costco, Fred Meyer (Kroger), The Home Depot, plus many restaurants of every flavor. Bears are here, but they stay away unless you feed them. Don't feed them. See the May 14, 2014 issue of the Chinook Observer newspaper (online) for amazing bear stories. Fishing is good here. Surf perch are outstanding. Razor clams are outstanding. Salmon fishing in season is outstanding. Crabbing is a major money maker here. The Columbia River is here, rolling out to sea. Bus transportation is subsidized by the state, and costs 35 cents for a great 15 mile ride or 50 cents to go into Oregon. Two of the loveliest old lighthouses are here on the headlands. Real estate is relatively cheap here--many excellent buys. Seattle people come here when they can and say they wish they lived here. This is a rural town, but it has city water and sewer and a mayor. Ocean Park is unincorporated and has the famous Jack's Country Store that is found online, and is amazing. People who buy a lot from Jack's Store can get discounts on gas using their green reward card--many get as much as a dollar off per gallon, some even get more off than that. Leadbetter State Park is a must see for a local wilderness on the end of a sandy peninsula. Trumpeter swans are there. Willapa Bay is the local birthing spot for seven-gill sharks. The bay is the cleanest oyster bay on the entire west coast of the U.S. Okay, I've said enough. Just get here as soon as you can.
