Troutdale is full of blue collar folks, contractors working in Portland. The housing is overpriced due to Multnomah County, but the city is safer than the crime statistics (mostly taken near the fringes of the city) indicate. the location is wonderful - on the Sandy and Columbia Rivers so if you like to fish you are in for a treat. Same goes for rock climbers and skiers are only an hour from Mount Hood. Hikers can’t find a better location. The winds are brutal on the winter so be prepared to have your roof ripped off.
