RE: Air Issues etc.

To whom it may concern:

We live in Will County, the Channahon/Joliet area to be more specific and have been living here for approximately 9 years. Since we’ve been here it’s gone from bad to worse with our air quality; we even lost our canary due to the all the fumes/noxious odors constantly emanating around our neighborhood and on Route 6.

I have repeatedly joked with my doctors and family that our troubles would be over if we had Erin Brockovich, a politician and an attorney in our corner. To our amazement prayers came true. Erin Brockovich called us last year and many others came to help us in our endeavors but to no avail the ongoing nightmare has just begun.

Attorney Keith Harley and his staff at the Chicago Legal Clinic, Inc.; Attorney/Chemist Chris Nidel from D.C.; Ann Muniz from Downers Grove; Tricia Krause from Orland Park, Citizens Against Ruining the Environment and others suffering their own devastating health/environmental issues have all tried to help us get answers and resolutions.

The Honorable Senator Barack Obama signed on for an investigation to be conducted in our area. The EPA was contacted to perform the task of answering our questions issues and concerns regarding air & water quality as well as potentially serious threats to Homeland Security. They do pose a potential threat to human and health and the environment if their putting known cancer causing toxins in our air, dumping on land and in the water that’s clearly a threat. How can any of this be can it be safe if it’s considered a non attainment or non compliant?

Industries that generate, store and treat or dispose of hazardous wastes and have to comply with RCRA. RCRA and DOT also regulates transportation of wastes and hazardous materials. Whose responsibility to see that routine policing is in our community to ensure our safety, nobody’s taking action and apparently nobody cares?

Daily many trucks and trains carrying hazardous materials go through our area either distracted or ro
