Well, I hope you you've gone since then, you poor thing! Having to deal with us "yanks" must be very difficult for you. I was born and raised in Central New York State and my husband and I relocated for his then company, Lockheed Martin. We brought with us in 2009 a baby and have since enjoyed the birth of of our almost 5 year old son. We love the south. We brought with us our Conservative Christian values and have embraced the warmth and beauty of southern culture. Now, sit or madam, let me tell you that 1. calling us all "yanks" is just as much a racist slur as calling a Mexican a "wet back." 2. Your ancestors are not from here, either, my friend. America as we know it was founded in NYC as immigrants came from all over. My heritage is Italian, Irish, English, German and Cherokee Indian. 3. Speaking of Cherokee Indians, MY people were here in GA long before any of the others.
The world and the country are ever-changing and there are plenty of souther born and bred folk who lack southern hospitality. There are many "yanks" like our family who live in other parts of the world and have more charm and grace than most people we've met from the south. We need to come together as a human race and love one another. Can't change the world through avoidance.
Wherever you are in life, I pray you're well and your heart is full. God bless.
