I moved to this area 20 yrs. ago for country living. Found land originally settled over 250 yrs. ago. and the only thing left was a stone root cellar/foundation (log cabin was destroyed by fire 100+ yrs. previously), outhouse foundation, stone wall, original well, and loads of buried artifacts. I located the property on an 1864 map. It was owned by Jos. Benscoter, a settler of the area.
The Susquehanna River and surrounding small lakes, offer fishing, camping, kayaking/canoeing/boating, scenic hiking/walking trails, and historical landmarks & culture.
I found that nearly all area residents to be kind, welcoming, and willing to pass area knowledge and personal experiences on to the newer members of this location.
Definitely a slower paced area for quiet, small town (and outlying rural) living.
