Well for the last decade anyway. I've have seen many farms close up shop and sadden families quit their stewardship of the land. It seems the be more complete here in New Jersey where the state has all but given up on the small farm. Large estates are being built in the middle of what where once beautiful and productive fields. The tax burden is too great here for farmers and as these estates come in they increase the value of land that tax burden increases. The Garden State no more!
