First off, I'm blessed to be working full-time and gaining valuable experience at my place of work right outside of Greensburg. However, I do have to agree with Linda from Mass here because I am not a native of this region but a different part of Pennsylvania. The economy here isn't horrible but the pay for jobs is anything but great and I do feel like an outsider. I have encountered some nice people but overall, people seem to go out of their way to be rude and downright ignorant. People seem miserable here and do not often smile, which does not help when it is one of the top cloudiest regions in the country. I am not hating on Greensburg nor Latrobe, but people seem very judgmental, miserable, bitter, ignorant, closed-minded and very provincial. I moved here to be with family and away from the city for a change of pace, but I can see why Greensburg and surrounding Westmoreland County are both losing people due to their business unfriendly environments and attitudes toward outsiders. It's obviously not Pittsburgh, but there is so much potential for growth but everyone is so resistant to change and rather tax everyone to death (Not as much as Allegheny County) than find ways to bring companies to the area and growth to the area. At least the Marcellus Shale is allowed to be drilled here, which is a plus. Like I said, I am blessed to have been offered a job here and a nice place to live, but the people are bitter and has the Western PA mentality.
