Review of Tunkhannock, Pennsylvania

Tunkhannock
Star Rating - 3/23/2006
Proctor and Gamble is major employer. Small town, population about 1,900. Established, pre-Revolutionary war. Good school system. Locals not as friendly as one would imagine in a small town. Local politics very mean spirited and seems currupt.

A few interesting shops. One good eating place. An excellent Italian deli, relocated from Brooklyn, but underappreciatred.

One restored movie theater with two screens. Also functions as an arts center. Small hospital, good for emergencies. County seat. Many local lawyers and doctors.

About an hours drive to any medium size city.

A large local drug problem, primarily meth and heroin.

Churches everywhere.

Home of Congressman Don Sherwood. He has a local farm which raises draft horses for show.

Small library but strongly supported. Important. You will need a good book or two.
