Review of Winter Haven, Florida

Inwood: Suburb of Winter Haven, FL
Star Rating - 1/19/2010
I have lived in Inwood most of my life give or take 12 years. When I was younger I always wanted to move somewhere else -- maybe California or Miami. At one time I did live in Jacksonville and also for awhile in Yonkers, NY. Now I will (hopefully) live here the rest of my life.

It used to be a close-knit suburb where everyone knew everybody else. Now through the years it has become more and more crime-ridden and has temporary residents. Most of the people who have moved close to me in these later years I hesitate to get friendly -- I have been burned in the past by many on crack, prostitution, and violence--that includes murder. Yet I love my home and feel there is no sure safe place to move. I have endeavored to trust God and try to remember to let Him protect me.

We only have about a 6,000 population. We are very poor to low-class with a few, very few well-to-do. We are closer to Auburndale than Winter Haven. We get our water from Winter Haven. We get our police protection from the Polk County Sheriff's office. We are taxed by the county. We have no government. There are not too many of us long-timers left but we still are so glad to see one another.

I will write more if you like.

Peace, Juanita
