LaGrange - Looking for Southern Charm? You have fo

I moved to LaGrange 15 years ago to work as an engineer in a local manufacturing plant. I thought I would only be here a short while. I was single and didn't think LaGrange was booming enough for me. Now - with a great husband and four children, I love LaGrange. If is a wonderful family town.

LaGrange is the perfect place to call home if you need to work in Atlanta but want to live where there is a slower pace to life. LaGrange is 45 minutes south of the Airport - perfect - not too close, not too far. It is situated on West Point Lake. A beautiful lake with 500 miles of shoreline. There are vast cultural actities: a local Symphony, Museum, Ballet Company, and an Arts Alligiance and plenty of Recreational activities: fishing, boating, Recreational sports leagues, 12+ camp grounds, hiking rails, mountain bike trails - and Callaway Gardens is only 20 minutes away. There are mulitple great restaurants, although you will spend most weekends at backyard cook outs and supper clubs with the thriving southern hospitality that is alive and well. Schools are good and employement opportunities are good too. Kia built its first manufacturing plant in the U.S. 8 miles from LaGrange. Over 7500 jobs have been announced between Kia and their suppliers. As of October 2010 Kia has hired just under 2100 employees and plans to conitnue hiring as they are ramping up for their 2nd shift to come online soon. Suppliers have starting hiring and several tier one suppliers are already discussing expansion. The real estate market is stable and investment options abound. The rental market is great due to the number of employees relocating to the area with Kia. If you are patient, you can purchase a $100,000 foreclosure that can rent for $900-$1100 per month. Owner occupied homes are reasonably priced. You can purchase a lake front home from $200,000 in rural areas or $400,000 to $600,000 in neighborhoods. You can purchase an upscale 4 sided brick home from the $280's and up or purchase a quality constructed cement sided home in a neighborhood with full amenties from $160,000+. Great childcare is available at several local churches at very affordable prices. (My top choice is First Baptist Church on the Square - waiting list is 6 months to 1 year though) Infant childcare is around $110 per week.

Life is good in LaGrange, GA!
