Review of Hornell, New York

The American Dream is still alive in Hornell, NY
Star Rating - 9/14/2023
Hornell is a great place to live. Small for a city, but it has most of what you would need between local shops and big box stores. Amazing produce/farmers markets just outside of town. Anyone that wants can afford a home here and basically mansions are under 500k. Nestled in a beautiful valley, very close to a ton of public state forest land, plenty of deer to hunt, trails to hike, and roads to bike. Stoney Brook is just up the road, 86 allows you to easily get to Corning. You're basically halfway between NYC and Toronto. 6hrs to Boston or DC.

Traffic is never an issue. Crime is crazy low, it is a town where people often don't lock doors and can leave things on their porches without worrying about theft.

If you work in healthcare or a higher paying job remotely you can live like royalty. You make it to Rochester or Buffalo very easily for big city things or flights. While the diversity isn't high here, it is not a town where you would need to feel afraid as a minority.

Areas of improvement would be if we had more restaurants that aren't diner style or Italian. Would love for some Indian, Mediterranean, or something that isn't generic Sysco. Also would like a bike shop closer than Bath.
