Review of Gulfport, Mississippi

Gulfport- my new permanent home!
Star Rating - 1/13/2022
I am a retiree who moved to Gulfport, MS two years ago and am truly enjoying this charming beach town. The crime rate is relatively low as is the cost of living. Yes, the summers are hot and humid, but - at least we don’t have to deal with snow. We do have the occasional hurricane, but every place has its bad weather. Overall, the people are very friendly. The beaches are nice, however the Gulf water is more like river water due to the Mississippi River emptying into it. I heard someone say once that although our gulf waters aren’t blue like Florida’s, our water is the water of love because we have oysters, shrimp and fish in ours. Gulfport, like most of the Deep South, is a conservative area, however, people are still welcoming and there are parades/festivals for all types of events. So in closing, all I can say is that I enjoy it down here and would recommend to people wanting a slower pace of life in a small city that still has a lot to offer.
