Hate where I live

My husband and I are in our late 40s and looking for the perfect spot to move to. We are retired military and presently live about 20 minutes from St. Louis. We absolutely hate it here and would like a more friendly outgoing community but a community where we can find work at our age. Any information is greatly appreciated. Thank you!
