Belfair is a great place for riding state ORV trails and motorcycle trails. People from all over the NW come to the enormous section of state land set aside for such activities. There are multiple lakes available to fish or enjoy water sports, as well as Hood Canal for a variety of salt water fishing, clamming, shrimping, crabbing, and swimming. When the winds are up, many have turned to kite boarding.
Methamphetamine production and use is high there. Meth labs are scattered throughout the forests and back roads where criminals in trailers can produce their meth with little chance of being caught.
Illegals from Guatemala work for evergreen harvesting companies under the table, are led by a leader who drops them off in remote locations into the forest to illegally pick brush and evergreen boughs for sale to florists, then pick them up at the end of the day and bring their harvest in to ship out of town. The illegal Guatemalan population has increased exponentially over the years, and rent cheap housing, and pack in as many family members and friend they can, then trash the residence with litter and filth. I lose no sleep knowing this happens to the landlords, because they rent through cash, under the table, avoiding the IRS, and support these illegals by harboring them. The illegals and backwards criminals living in the forests of Belfair dump their garbage along the roadside or just into the forest to avoid paying to dump it legally. If you're looking for broken toilets, washing machines, dryers, old tires and wheels, or household trash and bags of used diapers, the Belfair forest is a great place to find all of those...within minutes.
If you want to go to little Russia, try enjoying the comrades at the Twanoh State Park on the South shore of Hood canal. The Russians have made that their primary place to Summer. This began over a decade ago. They've actually taken it over. I guess if anything, it would be the best place in Belfair to learn the Russian language.
Property crime is very high in Belfair. The flocks of drug addicts steal anything which isn't watched, then sell it to purchase more of their habit.
Traffic going in and out of Belfair is often gridlock. Infrastructure planning...well, there wasn't any.
There is a local multiple business owner in Belfair who thinks he owns the town, and has been there for many years. He scams people and he has become rich over it. He's an arrogant and rotund fellow, a big tadpole in a very small swamp who I believe has self-appointed himself as the Mayor of Belfair...even though he is not.
If you get the urge to dig up and harvest some fresh seafood, you'll need to look long and hard for a beach which hasn't been closed due to pollution.
Looking for a town which looks after the welfare and recreation of our most precious people, that being our children? Then skip Belfair. Belfair has done little to nothing for the youth. A few baseball diamonds or a football field at the schools, yes. That's where it ends. No movies, skate board parks, bowling, activity arcades, skating rinks, or bicycle tracks such as competition bicycling for kids. Belfair will spend multiple thousands on a useless "Modern Art" sculpture which serves no purpose nor represent the area...instead of providing anything for the children.
Belfair has been neglecting their children for decades.
All in all, Belfair is a dank, dark, mossy, muddy, rainy @ 60"/year, and just a miserable and depressing dump.
