A beautiful smaller community set in a forest... - 9/26/2021
I'm a born and bred Californian and have lived mostly in the Northern California Sierra foothill communities ( Chico area ) with a short stint in LA for school, and then 30+ years in Silicon Valley before moving to Prescott a few months ago. We have owned property here since the mid 80's thinking this was a perfect place to retire, and I can now confirm that assumption as correct, at least for us. People here are all friendly and open, and not concerned with adhering to a politically correct, coercive requirement that's ubiquitios in California's larger communities. Ahhh.... This is a somewhat small and beautiful community, set in one of the nation's largest forests, with over 500 miles of nature trails, It both far enough, and close enough to several metro areas and close to many interesting places to spend in Read More

With the latest frenzy of road-building, house-building, land speculation, housing developments, etc. the attractiveness of the area has much diminished. Added to that is the resistance on the part of decision-makers to address the need to ensure that our existing water supply suggests that there are severe water shortages on the near horizon. With many people moving here from non-arid climates they need to realize that those things that they enjoyed elsewhere need to be abandoned; e.g., lawns, landscaping with water-demanding plants, swimming pools, Read More
