From the best place to the worst -- at a premium - 9/19/2021
Alameda was the best place in the world to live 30 years ago. Rich with history and beautiful victorians, friendly small town feel where everyone frequented the local stores. Alameda is an island and there is water almost everywhere... within a 10 or 15 minute walk.
The last 10 years have been disastrous for the historic little town. The "progressives" have moved in and voted in more housing, more people, less street lanes (All 4 lane streets are now 2 lane streets with large unused bike lanes). Special interest run rampant. The progressives voted in a huge homeless complex to bring all the oakland, san leandro and alameda county homeless into Alameda. They have NO IDEA what this means. They think we should invite the homeless into our homes, give them a cup of coffee. The traffic is horrendous. The crime it out of control. It has gone from the best place to live to the worst. PLUS all of this and you get to pay a premium for housing. TOO many people make way too Read More
