Rural neighbor homes in the foothills - 5/10/2014
Great area to live and work. Close to freeway access, groceries, restaurants, home improvement, car repair, banking, horse trails, hiking trails, view of the valley, swimming, fishing....you name it, we've got it within less than 1 to 5 miles.
Where I live lies a beautiful neighborhood with down to earth neighbors in the foothills between Little and Big Tujunga Canyons. Read More

Sylmar/Foothills - 10/3/2010
Ive lived in the foothills of Sylmar since 1989 and I love it. In my area there has never been any crime. I am quite surprised when people mention that there is crime here. I have heard that the flatlands of Sylmar have gangs and crime, but Pasadena is the same way. As a matter of fact, gangs are VERY prevalent in Pasadena. Ive even seen gang members in broad daylight destroy a car.....yet everyone always says that Pasadena is sooooo wonderful. I really think Sylmar needs to be divided. Sylmar has good and bad traits. If you lived here your whole life like I have you will know what I am talking about. We have a lot of gangs including the Sanfers, Sylmar, 818, AGL, and more, but if you are street smart you should be fine. There are a lot of rapes in our area especially at the parks. Cops always take their time when called. My brother got robbed and stabbed here. My sister got raped. I, however have learned to keep myself out of these situations. I always take a stick or bat when walking or jogging. Seriously. Whistles are handy. Most of our streets aren't well lit. Sylmar does has nicer areas just like any other city. Hope this Read More

This area undeservedly (?) gets a bad rap - 4/17/2006
I purchased a home in Sylmar in 1981 and have lived here since. From the beginning, people have had negative things to say about this town. I can say that at least the area in which I live is safe, quiet, and peaceful. Property values have been slow to rise but are finally coming into par with other southern California values. I am in a horse property area and like it here very Read More
