Expensive place to live - 9/26/2017
It says that McPherson is less then the National average for cost of living. this is not true. The Utility costs are outrageous. I pay more for electric, water and Gas service then I did when i was stationed anywhere in the Military. Average electric bill is $185 for a small three bed house. I paid an average of $110 at all other duty stations combined. Roads are in severe need of repair. the only ones that get repaired are ones that don't need it. My house "goes up in value" every year so the county can raise my property taxes. I've lived here for five years and when i bought my house it was valued at $87,000 and now five years later with no improvements is valued at 129,000. property taxes went from $1500 a year to $2000 a year. that's $100 a year increase!! If improvements were made i would understand but there is no way the value is that much. Rent is also showing half of the actual average. Drugs are theft are also a huge issue Read More
