What BestPlaces Users Say about Harper Woods

Harper Woods, Michigan is a small suburban city located in Wayne County. With a population of around 13,000, it is known for its quiet streets, tree-lined neighborhoods, and public parks. The city also has a strong sense of community, with various events and activities throughout the year. Its proximity to Detroit makes it a desirable location for those looking for a suburban lifestyle with easy access to urban amenities. However, like any other place, it has its share of pros and cons. Let's take a look at what people have to say about living in Harper Woods.

According to user reviews on BestPlaces, Harper Woods is a great place to live for families. The schools are excellent, the community is friendly, and there are plenty of outdoor spaces for my kids to play." Similarly, another user named John praises the city's safety, stating, "As a single father, safety was my top priority when looking for a place to live. Harper Woods has exceeded my expectations in that aspect. I feel comfortable letting my kids play outside without constant supervision."

However, not all reviews are positive. Some users have expressed concerns about the cost of living in Harper Woods. One user, Tom, writes, "Harper Woods is a bit expensive compared to other suburbs in the area. The housing prices and property taxes are high, making it difficult for young families to settle down here." Another user, Sarah, echoes similar sentiments, saying, "I love Harper Woods, but the cost of living can be a burden for some. I wish the city would invest in more affordable housing options to attract a diverse population."

Despite the mixed opinions, many users appreciate the small-town feel of Harper Woods. User Lisa states, "I grew up in Chicago, and moving to Harper Woods was a breath of fresh air. It has a small-town vibe, yet it's close enough to Detroit for when I want to go out and explore the city. The best of both worlds." Overall, the general consensus is that Harper Woods is a family-friendly, safe, and charming community with a high cost of living.

Anyway I now live in a city that's "between" there and Detroit. It seems to consist of the African-American people trying to get out of Detroit and the "white" people who can't quite afford to live in G.P. Anyway I've been trying to get out of "Detroit" my whole life and will never stop trying thanks to all the commnets about how much more some places really have to offer. Like a differnet aproach to life then just being in a "rat race", (being compettitive about every little superficial thing), as well as cultural diversity, openness to change, and accepting other people for who they are as a person and just by what their status in society is, well I'm sure some people Read More
