This is a very beautiful area, especially if you love nature, woodlands, mountain lakes and streams, outdoor activities, etc. Winters are long and harsh with a lot of snow, strong winds and below zero temperatures. Snowshoeing, cross country skiing and ice fishing are popular winter activities. During warmer months hiking, camping, fishing and paddling (that's canoeing for non-wilderness types) are the activities of choice. The people here are friendly and watch out for one another.
