The economy is not so hot in Webster, NY - 1/16/2012
The Town of Webster, NY has a motto, "Webster, where life is worth living." And that is surprisingly true. We have a great community with lots of good features. We still have some rural areas, lots of parks and nature preserves, good shopping and quite a variety of housing. However, one thing we don't have is jobs. Industry in the Rochester, NY, area has been declining for years and so, many of us who were drawn to the industry in this area when we were young are now finding no suitable employment now that we are nearing the end of our careers. It's a great place to live... if you have a job.

I don't know where you get your information from but Webster's town and village has over 40,000 residents. We have great shopping, many beautiful parks and our just south of Lake Ontario where we enjoy boating, camping and swimming. We are also about one hour from the Finger Lakes which contain over 80 wineries and 20 minutes from Rochester where we enjoy many cultural events, an art gallery, science museum, planetarium, Eastman House (film and photography, and many other things that keep us busy all year round. Yes we have winters but there is downhill and cross country skiing and hiking trails.Read More
