Area code 28262 is located in NE Charlotte and is a part of a broader part of Charlotte known as University City which is home to The University of North Carolina at Charlotte. This part of Charlotte has seen much growth especially over the past 10 years. New Schools, parks and shopping tend to sprout overnight. With the recession things slowed but as of late dirt is beginning to make way for new growth. It is very suburban, so if older established hoods are your taste don't consider this area. This zip extends all the way to the border of Mecklenburg County and Cabarrus County. You can still find back country roads and cows grazing the closer to the border you go. Rolling hills and tree-filled land are still in supply here. Hopefully the city and county will preserve much of this land or at least require developers to not cut all of the trees down.
