Relaxed but uniquely energized town - 4/27/2018
Lots going on in Elkin with excellent musicians and opportunities, musical instrument making through Surry Community College, excellent Trails system the Elkin Valley Trails Association, fine walking trails with handicapped accessiblity, Elkin Creek Mountain Bike Trail, on the NC Mountains to Sea Trail, the E & A Rail-Trail, the Overmountain Victory Trail and the Yadkin Blueway for kayaks, canoes, and fishing for catfish, bass and trout (hatchery supported on the Big Elkin Creek - take and eat), hotspot for birding, excellent hospital and medical staff, excellent public school system, easy and decent grocery shopping, 20 wine tasting rooms within 20 minutes, two micro breweries in town, good social scene, amazing Explore Elkin activity organization, excellent restaurants and bars, practical, creative and smart town commissioners and staff, good churches, knockout Parks and Recreation Department with swimming pool, A+ tennis courts, walking track, ballfields and very active youth
