A great place to retire. - 12/31/2019
I raised a family here, we've been here 30 years. The house I live in used to be the old post office. People tell me it is over 200 years old. My first home, which was the old general store and stagecoach stop, which is now referred to as the "Hotel" is easily 200 plus. It was here before the house I'm living in now. The upper floor of the old general store was never rebuilt after it caught fire in 1892. they just built a roof over what was left and continued to operate th place as a store. There's a lot of incorrect information about our village floating around the internet written by folks that have never even seen the place. This was the original home of the Hopewell Indians and directly behind me is one of their burial mounds. A professor, from Ohio U, back in the 40's, did some excavation there obtaining a great amount of artifacts. He took them back to Ohio U soon after which, both he and the relics simply disappeared.
