Think long and hard. - 8/6/2020
Do your homework. Looks can be deceiving. Beautiful beaches and great weather. Most people in stores and restaurants are pleasant. If you buy a house, you can’t get repairs done, contractors are either backlogged or unresponsive. Limited shopping. The gem of the town is Fred Meyers. Anything else you must travel 2 hours. Medical care sucks and specialists are 2 hours away. Lots of homeless that pander and the city won’t do anything. More and more theft and lots of travelers and tourists. Lots of strange and rude local people too who do not welcome outsiders who have not lived here all their life. Drama and petty small town politics run rampant. Many people complain about bullying and are the biggest bullies. Lots of neighbor disputes and people who don’t know civil behavior. Pretty much a hick town with people who think they are progressive but aren’t. A large retirement segment. Poor schools. Terrific library and nice local community college. The saying here is “No hurry in Curry”

Great place to visit, dismal place to live. - 10/2/2019
Beautiful place for vacation. Before you move here, however, research: Housing crisis. Homelessness. Access to, and quality of physical and mental healthcare. Job and career opportunities. Public school performance. Curry County financial crisis. Physical disrepair of the county’s courthouse and jail. Not enough beds in jail, therefore “book and release” is status quo. Curry County has the highest rate of suicide in Oregon.
